Brindies ride on 2009-01-10
Sam was still in need of some long mountain bike rides in preparation for the
otway odyssey, so I offered to get a ride happening with some big hills
today. Others interested also rocked up for the ride. At the start we
had. Sam, Julie, David, Andrew, Gary, Matt, Amanda, James, Heather, Jules,
Peter, Hugh and myself.
The google map of where we went is
here,
we started with a nice 7KM climb, though Matt and Amanda soon decided to head
home. Then the fun descent down two sticks, unfortunately Jules did a superman
impression with transition to body surfing at speed on the firetrail and ended
up unable to pedal out, so he rolled down hill and into blue range while we
got the car up to get him, Heather took him home to clean up. Upon our return
to the cars after the first 30 KM Hugh also decided to call it a day.
The rest of us however climbed back up more hills, this time the steep way up
Pabral Rd to Mt Coree fire trail and on to the summit of Coree. After this we
headed up to Bulls head and finished the ride with the fun descent all the way
down Warks rd. My guess for total ride distance was 80 KM, Jaymz said his bike
comoputer had it at 80.1 KM so I was a bit off (that whole .1 of a KM means my
guess was wrong)(my gps and Julie's gps said more like 77.5 KM, however the
bike computer tends to be a little more accurate).
