Mt Coree climb on 2006-09-03
I had a hankering to get out into the bush for a ride this weekend so I put
out the call for a quick ride straight up to the summit of Mt Coree from
Blundells arboretum and back down. A number of people said they would rock up,
however due in part to bad weather the night before and in Canberra that
morning and due to a few other factors not everyone rocked up.
Dave Sutton gave a lift out there to Richard (DeathMarch) Bontjer, James
Davies and myself (Steven Hanley). We arrived, we waited for others, we
contemplated the weather, we rode up a hill, we descended a hill and went home
(after some bike washing in a creek). It was however a really enjoyable ride,
and I must say the climb of Mt Coree is a lot easier when fresh rather than
after riding there from Canberra on a mountain bike and riding some other big
climbs on the way up there.

Dave stopped as we started to climb and realised we were wearing too
much clothing to do a big hill climb.

climby bits, as always.

I got in front of Jaymz on the really steep slippery bit which for some
reason I was able to clean and he was not, very unusual.

Another attempt to photograph people while I am riding in front of
them, did not turn out well.

On the summit of Coree, inside the clouds, it cleared once or twice for
the odd second or two. DeathMarch, Dave and Jaymz.

A photo of me. Though I did the majority of the climb simply in jersey
and shorts, it was cold enough on the top, and for the descent to put
on a thermal and vest.
