2009 Sri Chinmoy Googong Challenge

I have competed in this event for a few years now, it is a tough day out, significantly harder than the Yerrabi Multisport event that I got to do for the first time earlier this year. However it is a gorgeous course with all 4 legs being scenic and interesting to do, a low profile event but one I love getting the chance to do.

This year Danielle was there on her brand new surf ski and took out the long course womens race in 4h6m, Andrew and Lizzie teamed up and won the mixed division, David S and Paul L won mens and I won mens solo. ARNuts/Bilbys had a pretty successful day there taking out all the under 50 categories. Gary R was there too coming in third.

Results, reports, photos are up on the Googong Multisport Challenge website (or will be linked there soon). Below are the photos taken with my camera at the event.

Oh and my gps map is for the race can be seen here and the data with Heart rate and the ability to click on any point on the course for speed, distance, HR, etc is here. (for some reason it has the time an hour short)

Lizzie and my legs, showing off Lizzie's rather cool pink stretchy tri laces (and wearing pink socks too) which I think backs up my theory that pink is a go fast colour as she got the womens team run records on both runs.

Long course start with me looking like a beef cake rugby player next to Gary. Danielle also there in ARNuts (lucky jerseys as she has won 3 events in a row wearing hers now) colours. Lizzie in black and red behind and to the left of D.

Andrew, me and another competitor coming around the buoy close to the start for our second lap of the paddle, I am about to catch and pass them both.

Andrew is not that easy to catch though.

Gary finishing the race.

fullsize
Danielle finishing with an awesome fast time (and I think showing on her face how hard she has been pushing)

fullsize
Danielle with first place womens solo long course, only 10 minutes off Julie's course record.

fullsize
Gary with third mens solo long course.

And they gave me another first place multi sport race trophy for the year too (after yerrabi). Rock on.
