Herberton 8 Hour mtb Race 2006

So with a week of holiday in Cairns staying with my friends Sam and Ben (who I do the Gravity 12 hour with) we had decided to compete in the Herberton 8 Hour mountain bike race (see the Cairns MTB club page for a few details) as a team of three.

The race turned out to be pretty cruisy, not particularly interesting from a technical course perspective, however I had fun there as did Sam and Ben. The other end of my week in Cairns will have me competing in the RRR Classic mtb race so it will be good to see how that event goes also. I met up with Pete Zeck from Canberra who is also up here for the two races I am doing and a week of relaxation or similar. Oh and I ran into Tony from Townsville for those who know him.

The event photographer there took some photos of us on the course and results are up at the race website now also (we were the team with numbers 70, 71 and 72, I was the first rider, Ben rode second and Sam third, we kept that order for the entire race). Photos are sjh, ben, sam, ben, sam, sam.

Max wanted to take some photos, this is one of the few in which I had not been decapitated.

Though she did get the hang of it occasionally.

More of Maxine's photos, this time I am attempting to appear less sinister while holding a child.
